I don't think Adria's company really over-reacted; she achieved the opposite of what her job of 'developer evangelist' was all about.

Well, yes you are right about that. I did not know/missed her position at the company. If you are an evangelist you are a frontend of your company, an institution's face where ever publicly speaking.
