Not suggesting to be mean or cruel intentionally, but a comment about code or implementation is not a personal attack and shouldn't be taken as such.

I remember proposing to a very green team that using pull requests, code reviews and some semblance of staging before committing to production was a good idea and the answer was, literally: "But I write perfect code". I was shocked into silence and had to walk away on that one.
