Apple found a way to deliver browser engine and app store choice (theregister.com)

Now that Apple has shown it is possible, I wonder how likely and quickly will regulators in other countries outside EU introduce similar requirements as DMA and force Apple to open up its app store and browser choices.

It will be interesting to see what actions Apple will take to (maliciously) comply with those requirements.

I read somewhere that EU users who travel outside of the EU will temporarily lose access to their alt app stores and browser engines, and only get them back when they return.

Does anyone know if that's actually the case?

That's an underhanded way to make sure only apps tied to EU appear in the other app stores.

In 2022, 62% of EU population participated in tourism[1] and only 6% of those travelled outside EU[2]. So, the number of those owning an Apple device, installing an other App store and affected by this limitation might be less but not insignificant.

This would be bad PR for Apple, I doubt it will immediately apply. Maybe after a certain period of time, say 3 months?

Thinking here about not being able to upgrade Apps etc.
