If that senior gets hit by a bus then what? Can the company afford to bring in another senior that will take ~6 months to become productive? I'm not disagreeing with you. Im thinking of going solo myself.

The biggest problem going solo is getting the projects/contracts. Now it will become even harder so one has to charge less and less to compete.
