Well said. I spend my day doing professional software development in a particular domain, where I solve real, tangible problems. In the evening I like to spend some time on aimless programming, tinkering with new languages, technologies, tools, etc. I do it for the enjoyment of the learning and the creative process as you mentioned, with no particular goal in mind.
