And herein lies the problem, because while electric cars are simpler in terms of parts and require fewer workers to assemble, their supply chain is massively more complex and geopolitically tied to China, Russia, and other geopolitically complicated regions either in raw materials, processed materials, or parts manufacturing, or some combination of the three.


That's what I am puzzled with as well, when people are trying to reason that mechanically complex things are more expensive than mechanically simple things. But it depends? Nugget of gold is mechanically simpler than a car, but it is not cheaper than a car.
