> Apple is allegedly threatening to fire an employee who posted a TikTok video with basic iPhone security tips. The employee, Paris Campbell, says she was told that she breached company policy by identifying herself as an Apple employee and posting about Apple-related topics.

This is the kind of rot that destroys great companies.

Everyone in the chain of command who thought that disciplining her over this is the correct course of action, should be fired. Her manager for threatening to terminate her should be immediately terminated.

To be fair, Apple tells you what not to do on social media when you join. They are extremely no none-sense about it too, by the way she said she is an Apple engineer on her TikTok I can only assume she knew this.

I’m always careful not to mention the last company I worked for, in my posting (it’s one that I’m proud to have worked for). It’s not a secret, but I don’t want to give them any cause for concern.

It’s long past the time where I would be in any legal jeopardy for doing so, but I do it from respect.

That company had pretty strict HR policies, and one of them, was that a manager could never mention any disciplinary outcomes to employees. That was a privilege reserved only to HR. A manager could only mention that a matter may be referred to HR.

Apple takes their brand extremely seriously when it comes to employees posting on social media. Apple is most likely worried that the video can be interpreted in some kind of negative light.

The whole video at a glance can be summed up in three words, “extortion”, “foreign country” and “Apple Engineer”.

Everything was right in that video so unclear what Apple is protecting here

My general impression after seeing this happen several times over the past few years is that Apple employees should keep any social media accounts connected to their real identities private and never talk about anything Apple on public social media accounts not connected to their real identities.

I am sure she did nothing wrong, but after so many stories like this in the last decade or so, why would anyone who is employed ever post to social media? Only one of two things can happen:

1) Nothing.

2) You get fired.
