LinkedIn cringe is arguably worse in non-sales areas. Salespeople understand they're in the Matrix. Non-salespeople don't realize they're sucked up into this awkward world.
I don't consider myself to be particularly cynical, which is why it surprises me that I cannot shake off the loss of respect I feel for people I once respected after I see one of their linkedin posts on the odd day in the odd month that I do log in.
