Recent grad looking for a backend role with the Java ecosystem. I have previous graduate research and intern experience. I enjoy building tools, working on open source and understanding how things work.

I know you state you're not willing to relocate. I just want to say that the tech job market/pay is terrible in the Philly region. I worked there straight out of college and it has really stunted my career. There are very few jobs above the national median ($110k).

He’s looking for remote which would help but wether that’s a smart move for a new grad is a different topic

Is it just remote, or local or remote?

I just don't want them to throw their career/youth away, like I did. Now I'm married to someone from the area and cannot leave (because she doesn't want to ever leave the current county). Before getting too rooted in the area, it could be good to look elsewhere. They could even go somewhere better for a couple years and move back if they want.

I would say local or remote. I try to cast a wide net but most companies have adopted a remote culture because of covid.
