I used to write my maths notes up in LaTeX, but it was always after the fact from my handwriten notes. Even typesetting math takes time.

I could do math typesetting at lecture pace with my 90-100wpm.

But I can't imagine sketching my figures in inkscape.

Just curious, in the exams are you allowed to use Latex too? It is difficult to think that it wouldn't be a hinderance.

Exams were pen and paper only.
