Senior individual contributor roles (so not factoring in team lead roles) go to as high as £90k but around £70k is more typical of the average senior frontend developer.
First StartUp was amazing, super professional people. Run out of money and laid people off (StartUp still lives and grows now)
Second StartUp was led by mid-twenty Bros and not the culture I wanted to be part of.
Third StartUp led by people bought in by a bigger corporation. Had no idea how to run a company. Best team I have ever worked in but worst business I ever worked in as well. Almost everyone left after being there for 6 months.
Fourth StartUp ad tech industry. Learned a great deal, solid co-workers, but had enough of "We are a cool StartUp" vibe and went freelancing.
General speaking, I don't dislike StartUps, but oh boy I am too old for this now (35 years old).
I think I should do this:
Build a fun resume parser
- improving UX of resume parsing when applying for jobs
- auto recommend keywords one can add in to resumes when uploading through an ATS
- just for laughs (seriously though), a bot running through your resume and informing you of your chances at getting past first screen (through a chrome extension)
two main kinds -
1) one (more practical, i.e making sure that the side projects actually hone my existing skills - still deciding between building another CRUD app or just brushing up on my ds/a more -- any advice?)
2) exploratory (trying to build a scraper for entertainment venues and creating a map based visualization for public to use when the covid-19 measures are eased in my country)
I would say that at this point in my journey I would definitely be more comfortable with building tools and visualizations (so point 3). 1) and 2) definitely require a different niche which I need to study and get more hands on about.
Frontend engineer, open to full stack projects as well.
