I don't think the OP was trying to write "My First Text Editor". This is a product we're meant to consume and should be critiqued as such.

i don't get it. if i need to write a document, i'll still use google docs. if i want to write a blogpost, i'll use a blog hosting platform. if I want a wiki, i'll use a wiki platform

> It's not designed to be this or that

well then why am i using it

i really hate this blog post format of posting the new thing you discovered as if it's objectively better than the previous thing. no it's not, you just like it better, which is FINE, just own it

I'm curious: why don't YOU create this app? 95% of a software business isn't the programming, it's the requirements gathering and marketing and all that other stuff.

Is it beneath YOUR dignity to create this? What an untapped market! You could be king!

Also it's absurd to an incredible degree to believe that any significant portion of programmers, left to their own devices, are eager to make "big, complicated, enterprise-scale" software.

What makes you think that I know how to program? It's not beyond my dignity, it's beyond my skills. The only thing I can do is support boutique programmers with my money as a consumer, and I'm very happy to do that.

But yes, sometimes I have to AI code small things, because there's no other solution.

everybody knows this, you are being uselessly pedantic

I was very confused by the word "contact" in the headline, which apparently means "crashed the fuck into and killed six people"

Look, GPT-3 was pretty magical. DALL-E was amazing.

Everything since then has not really pushed too far passed that "impressive tech demo" state. I like using AI to help me with coding. That's... about it.

it's pretty good at highly specific questions about software support, from my experience. I'll say what program I'm using, what I'm trying to do, and what errors I keep hitting.

"Click this, then that, then this other thing and it should work"

"that other thing isn't an option"

"Oh you're 3 versions behind. Instead, it's in location X."

Maybe 90% of the actual typing part of coding, but not 90% of the JOB of coding.

I clicked around for ~30 seconds and I have no idea what this is. Great job, Google marketing

Two hundred and thirty American dollars for this?
