I've had a Discord account for 10 years. They seem to assume all discord users are at least teenagers, so surely they can't think I was 8 when I created the account. So can't I have the "full" experience automatically?

because they want your data, and to be fair there's no safe way to determine your age, account could get stolen or transferred to other person.

> If somebody doesn't know what double parking is - it's when cars parallel park beside one another, implicitly on the road, making it difficult to see what's beyond them

This is not called double parking. Double parking is something different: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Double_parking

I don't know about you but here in the UK, close parallel parking is normal and expected, and I was taught to avoid trying to cross in the gap between two parked cars, and to be extra careful if I was going to. In this scenario some blame might lie with the driver for going too fast, but I would certainly also blame the child (or their parent) for stepping far into the road without looking.

Is it at all realistic to expect the stable and/or fiscally conservative countries to accept the high bond yields imposed by the more fiscally loose or perceived-risky countries? Could this ever happen without the EU centralising more control over fiscal policy?

No, it wouldn't work without the bond repayments being owed by a single fiscal entity, and hard to imagine Europe doing this for the foreseeable future even if they agree more tax harmonization and budget deficit rules.

But from the bondholder perspective, being able to pick and choose which countries to hold Euro denominated debt according to their risk tolerance is an advantage anyway.

> this capability was leaked

I think the policy Harris is referring to is based on the _risk_ of something like this - it is easy to imagine wireless devices being vulnerable and enabling this capability - rather than being based on definitive existence of this capability.

The government also doesn't let people conduct sensitive or classified conversations over un-certified protocols or devices. Unless the NSA was participating in the bluetooth encryption standards decisions they aren't going to allow those devices to be used by the President or VP. IMHO though, it's probably more that there were security trade-offs made when developing the standards and the government isn't OK with those types of trade-offs. It doesn't mean they're horrible, just that they aren't verified to be secure enough for sensitive governmental purposes.

I don't understand

Why does the IACR use the term "cryptology" rather than "cryptography"?

Cryptology is the science, cryptography the practice.

> if it is on Windows it is not called a futex

What is it called?

WaitOnAddress or from Rust's point of view wait_on_address

iPhone was released before iPod touch

> by far the most popular effect system around

Crazy claim to make without providing any evidence

What other effect library or language has 6 millions + downloads per month (that's more than angular) and meetups popping all around the world?
