If the alternative is pretending to be a 360 controller or Switch controller with limited features in either mode, as most controllers do, then I much prefer this. I'll second that I hope something like sc-controller can support it, though.
The thought crossed my mind as well. Lots of typos, plus "old version compromised, use new version ASAP" could also be said to get people on a newly compromised version, right? Though it's probably just that the post author is stressed and rushed the post out. I do wonder if there's a way to verify the post was written by the real dev and that he still has control. Old known GPG sig?
Outsider perspective here (never used Time Machine), but my first thought is that rsync works amazingly both local and over the network. Can't imagine why it being over the network would be a problem. If it can resume a partial transfer and compare checksums to ensure a match, what's the problem?
What's snipping tool have over macOS's super-shift-5 (or 4 or 3)? I would usually put Greenshot on any Windows box I'm gonna have to use a while, and that seems to pretty much have feature parity with all my slurp+grim Sway keybinds on GNU/Linux.
It's very minor but, with the Snipping Tool, the screenshot automatically ends up in the clipboard after dragging the box. As far as I know with macos I have to open the preview and copy it from there. There may be an option in macos to get the same behavior but I don't know about it.
Personally I hate when people copy/paste images as it often results in bad filenames like "image.jpg" (as in literally the word image) and then requires me to rename them when saving them when the file probably had a perfectly good default filename. I make sure to save images and reupload them, and I have a one-liner to check my pictures dir for bad filenames in case I saved one without noticing (worst case I run my routine rsync and am repeatedly replacing some image.jpg with a different picture). I also made a short script to put the current unix time on my clipboard in case I need to rename some of these bad files in a pinch. I tend to think less of people contributing to this bad filename problem, although chat programs and such could likely detect and "fix" it on their end also.
My screenshot workflow saves an image with the dimensions and date/time in it to my ~/scrot directory and then I can quickly post it somewhere by just sorting that dir by mtime with newest files on top.
I used JuiceSSH many years ago, had the Pro version when it was briefly free once. I've used Termux for years now and it seems better to me. You can set up ssh keys and aliases like usual, multihop works. I think I used to use Hacker's Keyboard but now I use AnySoftKeyboard since it had better alt layout support (e.g. Dvorak, Workman). I've got a row at the top with ctrl, tab, arrows, esc... It even works to do C-a, C-c, C-v in other apps. I'd recommend the combo. All available from F-Droid.
Yes I use termux too. What I love is that everything works that works on a normal computer too. And the same way. Even ssh keys on yubikeys work great with open keychain and okcagent.
They consistently have allowed bootloader unlocking without extra fuss and have had good LineageOS support. That is their main appeal, IMO. Nothing phones had no LineageOS support until recently (spacewar is now supported, unsure about other models), and it's not clear if there's enough of a community/following to keep putting LineageOS on them. I do not want any phone where I'm stuck with the stock ROM.
Nothing phones also allow seamless bootloader unlocking, just like OnePlus. There's been some rumors that OnePlus might be about to exit the market altogether, if so Nothing will probably expand into their niche and beyond their current approach based on "unique" design.
This is true, but only half the equation. Nothing Phone 1 took ages to get LineageOS support and the already-supported OnePlus 8T had similar specs. Though if OnePlus pisses everyone off, maybe Nothing will take their place and get more LOS maintainers, in which case I'd be fine switching to their devices.
I recently heard from a friend that this is due to something called "izzat". Admitting any sort of wrongdoing would reflect poorly on them and their family, to the point they would rather lie or do the wrong thing than damage their family's reputation.
What I don't understand about this is that, if you become "the guy that always does the wrong thing", doesn't that also damage your family's reputation? I don't mean to come off insulting here, just trying to understand.
