you just need to hop into any AI reltaed thread (even this one) and it's pretty clear no one is revising anything, skepticism is there lol.

having been out of work before and going on benefits the cliffs are hilariously badly calculated, not even sure how they are determined. for someone who knows their potentially salary far outweighs the reduced subsidies it can be a needed life boat. for people at the cutoff it incentivises you to stay under it.

maybe capital gains for politicians should be increased to like 80% and redirected entirely to public service funds lol. i'm just throwing random crap out there but haven't thought it thru at all for 2.

Yes, I’m sure they’ll vote for that.

Then we shouldnt vote for them...

That means that you shouldn't vote at all, then. Good luck getting 60 Senate candidates and 218 House candidates who would agree to something like that on ballots all over the country, with a chance in hell of winning.

We would get them if we actually supported them and participated-- in time, money and votes.

this is honestly what i think is going to happen as everyone is still figuring this out and why for large companies i think they are walking into a giant ass trap and the execs can't or don't care to see it as long as it boosts the stock.

most people (read: MOST) working at X corp aren't going to be using AI to accelerate their work, they are going to "phone it in" like you said or buy themselves more time to do other stuff. i think with the onslaught of vibe and slop most people don't have a vested interest to go above and beyond to ensure quality as long as it works, even experienced devs. that's honestly probably what i'd be tempted to do.

where we see the most exponential gains will be people who are paid enough to care, smaller teams that have a direct vested interest in long term success (founding teams, etc.) or people paid to just clean up a mess.

hiring and the landscape will be super interesting to see in the next year or so. probably team structure will change drastically as well.

the speech gets cut off. i asked it to click on a specific section and it said it couldn't show me as it wasn't a live demo. then kept trying to ask questions i didn't want to answer yet.

finally, i kept asking it to show me whatever it needs to show me to get to the point and it was like "have a nice day" and ended the call LOL.

that said, it's impressive what is there.

oh very interesting! can you tell me the email you entered so I can investigate?

another subjective data point, took waymo multiple times in SF and also lyft when waymo was taking too long. honestly, waymo was better in every single way and it wasn't even close. the only comparison was "maybe" taking a black XL from the airport.

in no particular order, my problems w/ lyft:

1) driver trying to talk to you when you just want some quiet time

2) unclean/smelly car, have no idea if it's some econobox or actually decent

3) sometimes questionable driving, talking on the phone or talking to you or watching some youtube video or using their phone trying to grab the next fare

waymo i just get in, it takes me where i need to go and i get out, no fuss. maybe i'll eat my words if i get into some catastrophic situation, but honestly i'll take that over the "feeling" i get when i step into current ride shares.

people don't drink starbucks because it's the best coffee, they do it because it's consistent for the most part and that's what i want. i don't want to roll the damn dice everytime i call for a car.

lol, after wework you'd be an idiot to think it was nothing more than shilling their "winner" to potentially dump on the public. but i guess as long as you can make money on the way up.

nice, so instead of just searching for the specific spf i want and moving the mouse myself/checking out quickly i can instead write a bunch of words that make my commands even more vague lol.

reminds me of when echo would let you order stuff "instantly" and how shitty that experience was outside of a narrow focus. except worse since you have to type it vs. just talking.

we learned our lessons from 2008 and 2020. my random thoughts

1) money has nowhere else go for now

2) great wealth transfer = really doesn't matter as long as the super rich can keep inflating their wealth faster than us peons. if you are above that curve just stay ahead of it at all costs.

3) prolonged pain can be extended indefinitely for most people by keeping them perpetual renters / extending loan terms.

4) all else fails print more money and i guess when it all does collapse doesn't matter, retreat to X country or bunker (lol)

> if you are above that curve

Is it possible to know if you're above 'that' curve? Does above the curve mean your assets are increasing in value faster than inflation?

I think to be above the curve requires being the first to receive the freshly printed money to buy more assets before they inflate further. You need to be first to benefit... So grift off the government contracts that lead/cause more printing.

someone mind actually giving a detailed history of the timeline outside of the two main parties? this has those inklings of wordpress drama where not a lot of people are not invested enough and that obviously works to an advantage of sorts.

> someone mind actually giving a detailed history of the timeline outside of the two main parties?

You have that in TFA? Author is an outsider to the drama.

The author talked to numerous Codesmith staff and their cherry picked information provided for the article.

I got no request for comment, no interviews, sitting on a treasure trove of my own documents the guy should look at.

So yeah. I would love an actually neutral party to put together a timeline after talking to both sides fairly.

This expectation that someone should approach you for comment (and the suggestion that the fact they haven’t matters for neutrality) is misguided.

Huh? This is a strange take.

You're right, and thanks for the note - gave me a chance to reflect. I think what I mean is more along the lines that while a right to reply would have been polite, it isn't required of a blogger, and wouldn't change the substance of the post much, which is largely about a pattern of behaviour rather than specifics. Michael's attempts to dismiss/discredit the post based on a process which generally only applies to the press is what sits badly with me.

Thank you for acknowledging! Most people I know don't have the guts to. Keep doing this!

Also, I was defending Michael, because I'm not a fan of witch-hunts. I truly believe the article is exaggerated, even if there are bits of truth. The author himself is a master affiliate marketer, it's a grey area to say the least. It wouldn't be difficult for me to "spin" some things he's done in a bad way, and make a 10 page article out of it, but that would be wrong.

So why the sneaky shitposting and stalking over such a long period of time? Just release the documents and let people decide.

I call bullshit on the "treasure trove".

I have a lot of DMs that are there to protect me in making arguments. I don't think it's cool to share them - even anonymized, because people close to Codesmith leadership would be outed and it would impact a lot of people. I have to think about the right way to do that if I did and I might need to have a journalist with credibility go through and write it up.
