Instead of a PIN that wipes the device, it would be much better to setup a special PIN that logs the user into a sanitized, completely separate profile with generated content of no practical value. This would create plausible deniability, and be sufficient to allow low-level border agents to look through a phone and pass any checks without raising these kinds of alarms. The wipe PIN should still be an option, but should be separate, and only be for cases where you suspect a forensic imaging or search of the device is to take place and the legal consequences outweigh the risks.
They would like to but it's not possible to make a robust feature like that because of low-level architecture of SSDs. Implementing a detectable solution would give people a false sense of security.
Also they can plant evidence if you unlock the phone.
Anti-forensics just isn't a focus of the Qubes OS project. Beyond a typical LUKS/dm-crypt FDE implementation, there isn't much else in the way of protections. There have been some community efforts around it to make some relatively minor enhancements.
Once you've decrypted the disk, the contents of every permanent Qube is there for the taking, and it would be up to the user to further secure any data within specific Qubes if they desired any protection beyond what they get via FDE. Something like encrypted containers, for example, which isn't specific to Qubes (and has its own limitations).
In terms of running processes, Qubes OS benefits greatly from Xen's isolation between Qubes, but from a data forensics standpoint a recent Pixel running GrapheneOS has massively stronger (and more numerous) layers of protection against data extraction, and at all levels (I/O, memory, disk, etc.).
Disposable Qubes are not intended to be robustly anti-forensic in nature. Implementing robust anti-forensic measures in stateful hardware requires far more from the hardware layer than is on offer.
There have been and are some community efforts towards mitigations, but nothing remotely approaching what three (soon to be four) specific phone architectures provide.
Qubes OS is many wonderful things, but it is not particularly anti-forensic. If anti-forensics on PC hardware is the primary intention behind disposable VMs, there are better options.
This same argument could be applied to anything. Layers of abstraction exist for a reason, because at a certain point, we can only deal with so many things at once. We have to be able to delegate "the details" to others -- be that a person, a company, or an AI model.
Does "not getting into the details" mean you have to understand how the GCC compiler works when you write C code? Do you need to be an expert in machine code, or how SSE and pipelined instruction caches work to write your little bit of code? Do you need to understand how Ethernet frames work to write an API route for a web server?
Knowing how these things work can be helpful in a broader sense, and perhaps when encountering weird edge cases or dealing with exotic implementation but are generally not required to get the job done. The details, simply put, don't matter because someone else has already thought through the problem and solved it in a way that is good enough for the vast majority of use cases.
The same goes with AI. It's helpful to know how things work, but as the models continue to get better and better, it doesn't matter. As long as they are trained properly by someone who does know the details, that's a far better place to be than training a million different people on it who will each have their own biases, levels of understanding and misconceptions.
You're confusing translation and interpretation. A compiler is merely translating your code into a lower-level form. (There is a degree of heuristic-based interpretation that goes into generating good code, but the code's observable behavior is not allowed to change.)
But an LLM has to interpret your words and make judgment calls about the logical details, which is a very different thing. An LLM sufficiently intelligent to make acceptable judgment calls in all situations (acceptable enough to ship to production without human review of those details) would likely be indistinguishable from AGI.
I didn't interpret it as an argument about layers of abstraction. You need to be in the detail at the level you're writing (and it's certainly advantageous to know some of the detail of the abstractions below) because you're building abstractions on top of that, because the details subtly change at the base level you're building at, impacting the level that you're building to.

You are free to learn whatever you want to. I'm saying I would greatly prefer talking to an AI model that was trained by an expert or the guy who created it, or trained via an RL environment that guarantees its correctness (where possible), and not take a chance on whatever or whoever happens to be teaching the subject that day. My experiences are my own, but I have repeatedly encountered people time and time again who profess to know how something works or have a deep understanding of something and it turns out that they, in fact, do not. It turns out its very easy to convince people you are knowledgeable about something who don't know anything about the subject.
They can try to do whatever they want to do. They can ban Huggingface. It just means we will get our models from torrents, or have someone from China ship us an SD card with the weights on it.
The only practical open source models, that can be fine tuned and are of sufficient quality are all Chinese. The only thing that has been released by labs are yesterday's tech. And that's exactly how they want it. They don't care about open source, don't care about the community. It's just another funnel for them to capture customers into their closed tech, which is where the actual serious high quality models are.
AI menus and signage are quickly becoming the dog whistle for "cheap". It's telling you what kind of quality and service you should expect in the rest of their product or service. Pretty soon people will catch on, and start avoiding these places. Once that happens, generative AI image models will be hard-pressed to drop the association. It's like walking into a dollar store -- everything can be made cheaply, so it doesn't matter if something there is actually of any value.

When you report any of the listings, you get an automated "Doesn't violate our terms." notification. I have started opening up complaints with the BBB, FTC, my state's Attorney General.

People here need to stop complaining about the train, and get on board. It's easier than ever before to build a network that can later be used for distribution and monetization. Does it really matter that content is authentically organic? We are tech people after all...our lives are practically synthetic and artificial. It's like getting upset because one artificial sweetener is sweeter than another.

"Building a network" is getting harder and may soon become completely impossible. Apparently when the total number of people who are interested in you or whatever you're selling doesn't increase and are instead diluted by piles of automatically-generated, void-filling slosh, it gets harder to spot what's really valuable. Everyone had to wade through the swamps now, so instead of surrendering more of their time to try and find anything worthwhile, people retreat from these places into their own communities.
I'm sure none of that matters though. You've already shown what really matters, the only thing that's valuable in the world - money. Maybe if those naysayers just shut up and got into the slurry pit like the rest of us normal people, they'd be convinced not to care about silly things that aren't money. After all, using a computer is 'artificial' or something. Even if you used those screens to connect with real people or do things for someone, the computeriness means that you might as well forego everything and everyone now. It was on a screen after all. Using AI/LLM takes about 1% of my brain power. Cobbling a bunch of scripts together to basically ask questions to an LLM is well within the skillsets of many people in the tech industry.
The people with the knowledge and skills pre-LLM will be dominating the industry, getting paid the most, and will be employed for years to come. The rest will be on the unemployment line.
Overly relying on AI going forward will only atrophy your skills and make you completely reliant on the companies providing the tokens.

Yes, but this is the perfect circle of slop: generate an ai landing page, throw it into cloudflare drop, ai adopts it, start all over again. For genuine, professional content, I would assume, almost no one uses cloudflare drop, as they already have something in place to test and quickly host some page. Moreover, I expect that scammers and phishing campaigns will have a use for it to quickly up some landing page without leaving a large footprint.
