Absolutely not.

500-1000ms is borderline acceptable.

Sub-300ms is closer to SOTA.

2000ms or more means people will hang up.

play "Just a second, one moment please <sounds of typing>".wave as soon as input goes quiet.

ChatGPT app has a audio version of the spinner icon when you ask it a question and it needs a second before answering.

I haaaaate the fake typing noises.

Alternate between that and

    play "ehh".wav

160ms is essentially optimal and you can get down to about 200ms AFAIK.

With what system?

Merry Christmas to one of the last great internet communities that I actually like to interact with

Let's do it, how do I reach you?

Cold call training aka 'exposure therapy'

https://coldcallgym.com

Just a call a number and practice a cold call with a bot. People seemed to like it when I built it so I made a free and paid tier. Getting like 3-5 new users per day without really doing anything.

This is pretty unique and amazing. How are you marketing this all the way to $500/mo.?

Thank you. I'm not doing any marketing at all. In fact I noticed about a third of the traffic comes from ChatGPT of all places. I guess that's just from the SEO. But users keep trying it out, maybe because it's really simple to start. Just call the number.

Watching surfers in the middle of this park was one of my favorite things to do in Munich. What a bummer. I'd be surprised if they had any luck at all restoring it.

Why don't you think they'll be able to restore it? Manmade standing waves are common (and the Eisbach was manmade in the first place.)

The first time I saw them was around Christmastime and I was just stunned by the sight of surfers in the middle of a snow-filled park.

oh darn heading to munich soon...it would've been cool to see

Give it a week and check back, the surfers are a strong community and there is public support for getting the wave back

I know it’s a technicality, but the wave is at the very beginning of the park. Not the middle. I can very much recommend walking at least until the lake, if you happen to be visiting Munich. That would be about 1 third of the park.

Not accurate. You are probably looking at a site like https://libgen.ac/ which states clearly at the top: "Not a Part of Library Genesis. ex libgen.io, libgen.org"

The real one has been down for a long time.

All original mirrors currently seem down. But other mirrors are up. Check here: https://open-slum.org/

The pirate bay's been down for a long time too. And yet...

This is relatable. Once one gets over the frustration of failing and making mistakes (thousands of times in some cases), it becomes fun and easier to stay curious.

I made a phone-based one to teach me how to cold call because I fucking hate cold calling but needed to learn to sell

Would love to see a blog about your approach and the results.

You are wasting your time, selling is about interpersonal confidence- something an algorithm that scrolls the internet can't teach you.

Isn’t increased confidence a function of practicing the thing you want to feel more confident about?

$155 seems like a lot. I do this with a $5 pi zero and a $5 adapter and it works flawlessly.
