Doesn't Apple offer purchases refunds?

Not really. In the EU they make you specifically agree that you won’t ask for one (or they did, I stopped buying from the App Store many years ago). Which does feel like a failure of the law that that is even allowed. Even when they did, it was never like Steam’s “no questions asked as long as you bought it less than 14 days ago and used it for fewer than 2 hours”, it was still conditional on their approval.

Only for the first decade.

I just talk about some comments I read some time ago, so take this with a grain of salt. It was my understanding that if you were spending about $300k-$500k a year in cloud services, it would make sense this type of solution, so the expected price would be something between $500k-$1M depending on the configuration

If I had millions in my bank, instead of buying fancy cars, I would definitely buy an Oxide rack just for the lols

Same, I've wanted one of these things for years.

the issue is that mistakes can't be fixed in the sense once they are discovered, it doesn't matter if they are eventually redacted

> San Diego power cost is over 40c/kWh, ~3x the global average. It’s a ripoff, and overpriced simply due to political dysfunction.

Mind anyone elaborate? Always thought this is was a direct cause of the free market. Not sure if by dysfunction the op means lack of intervention.

Did you say “free market”? There is one provider. There is a lot of regulation, mostly incompetent. It’s a mess.

Electricity cost in California is generally more expensive than most other US states, except Hawaii. Not sure why.

Perhaps Comma needed the datacenter to be in San Diego for latency or other reasons, but if they need it mostly for compute, it would have been cheaper to operate their datacenter elsewhere... but if we keep going down that path, maybe it actually becomes cheaper to rent a cloud after all.

The majority of Californians have no say and cannot choose their utilities provider. This is the polar opposite of the "free market".

Agree. I hate the fullscreen animation so I prefer apps that have a non-native and no animation option such as Ghosty.

There is also a Spanish company which according to them, they were the first private European company to reach space with their rocket: https://www.pldspace.com/en/

Thank you everyone for all the alternatives suggestions.

Figma

so I guess you pay to choose seats in the last row of the plane...

I did this once and one time was forced into doing it and it was a horrific nightmare. The lack of contra for my legs meant I was constantly slipping forward, it was tiring. The fact that this is an emergency seat made it worse - there was no handle for the hand because of some bullshit. The flight attendant policed every action I did from putting my jacket on to eating with the attachable tray. I will never do it again even if it means I fly for free.

One of the most relaxed flights I ever had I was window seat in the back row with a pleasant elderly couple. When everyone else was busy queuing to get off the plane they were sat knitting. I'd got into my novel and just sat enjoying it until they moved. Far less stressful than the usual madness.
