I think you laid out why so much mobey is being pressed into this: its digital crack and if they can addict enough businesses, they have subscription moats. Oraclification.

They primary concern is these centers will force water and energy expansions and those will be equally split.

Like, you go with friends to a bar, do you want your check equally split or based on drinks had?

The infrastructure when exponentially above the norm should be paid by the heavy user. Currently, most utilities dont do that.

Power is metered.

If a facility is somehow getting subsidized by the rest of the ratepayers then it’s a pricing problem that needs fixing.

The issue is that we collectively decided to stop investing in energy infrastructure for 50 years or so, and now all that capital investment needs to happen at once. You can’t even build a transmission line in a reasonable timeframe due to the insane NIMBY veto we have given everyone.

Typically industrial consumers of electricity with predictable 24x7 demand are a good thing for an electric grid. They actually subsidize the rest, and that’s reflected in the lower cost per watt they tend to pay the utility.

If the entire interconnection is simply out of generation capacity that’s a much larger failure further upstream by regulators and voters who wanted their cake and to eat it too for many years. It’s coming for us either way if we want to remain a viable competitive economy on the world stage. You can only maximize financialization for so long until you need to start actually making stuff again.

> Power is metered.

Yes, a portion of power is metered costs. Often times (though I am not certain about this case), there are fixed costs that everyone pays a chunk of. If these sorts of projects aren't handled well, the fixed cost that a massive data-center pays may be disproportionate to he cost they incur on the system.

Foxconn on steroids

Foxconn was just bribery, they never planned on building anything.

Hint: Many people think there are no reasonable plans to use these data centers.

I always assume cloud based services are a moat against the simplicity of the code bases used for these types of demos.

the correct concept of racism is: Bigotry + Power. So you give anyone power and suddenly their view on race matters.

The homeless black guy hating white people? What does that matter, he cant go shoot them in the back.

Anyone can do that. How often so you think a racist CEO funds a fascist president who funds the opression of immigrants, killing them?

Anyway, you are in personal responsibiliry land and been told you are tge master of your domain. Rarely do people who think individuality is paramount care about society. Your example along allows you to fixate on anecdotes because they hit your dopami e.

I think people really misunderstand what racism is, and how Trump used the delusion of racists to make them all think they were gonna get "their" racism satisfied, when in fact, he was only refering to his and his staffs racism, which is mostly the same as Nazis.

The fact that he was hispanic is in fact why he was harassed. The fact that some hispanics align with racism in the duty of Trump isn't confusing when you understand they might've thought he was venezualan while they're all cuban or whatever. They might have easily be enforcing their brand of racism.

The reason thinks like "LatinX" were rejected by latinos wasn't cause they hated liberals, it was because most of the south/central Americans have their own ethnographic racisms, and Trump tapped into that by essentially convincing them that he'd go after the "illegal" ones, and all the racists replaced illegal with whatever ethnographic/nationalist they hated.

So after all that, I assum you have no idea why hispanics deputized with federal power would pick on other hispanics, do you? Cause what you're demonstrating is the nazi POV of racism.

First they came for the Taco trucks, and I said nothing, for I liked burritos.

Like LLMs, though: Do you really think a simulation will get them to all the corner cases robots/AI needs to know about, or will it be largely the same problem -- they'll be just good enough to fool the engineers and make the business ops drool and they'll be put into production and suddenly we'll see in a year or two stories about robots crushing peoples hands, stepping in drains and falling over or falling off roofs cause of some bizarre miscommunication between training and reality.

So, like, it's very important to understand the lineage of training and not just the "this is it"

Doubtful. They're making room for more promises than they can keep because they lost sales after sales.

I think you arn't paying attention: AS long as there's 1 seller and 1 buyer, Capitalism will happily burn the rest of the population.

Sure there's some other limits on social cohesion, but the idea that we can't squeeze upward and leave a bunch of poor people destitute is optimistic.

It's also how you ensure no one thinks: Hey, maybe capitalism isn't an optimal distribution of social good.
