Since WaPo is now unequivocally Oligarch Bezos' media outlet, how are we to interpret this? Is this regular old news, or is it intra-oligarchy sniping?

There are unfortunate problems resulting from Oligarchs direct, open meddling in reporting.

Maybe. NPR is famous for liberal bias. How do we know this is accurately reported?

Beyond probably biased reporting, this kind of "joke" would have drawn stinging reprimands in the past. Where's the outrage and declarations of freedom of religion from Douthat, Yglesias, Weiss and Fox News?

Don't let a troll upset you :-)

In practice, if he were to penalize individual religions or churches, I'm pretty sure he will run into revolt, so I wouldn't worry about it. Similar to all the awful ICE stuff etc., the American public pushes back and the administration adjusts and recalibrates.

I dunno, this seems like something that if Biden or Obama or even G.W. Bush had said, there'd be a week of reporting. Shows what lapdogs the press have become, and makes me wonder about the utility of US style freedom of the press as well as how much it values any of the other freedoms.

What's described is true, but managers in a lot of industries want drones as described. Lawyers and engineers have some extra status in most industries that have forced managers and owners to share a little power and a little wealth with them. The managerial class will take any opportunity to claw back any power and wealth they can, from any workers. That's the appeal of "AI" isn't it? Access to expertise without paying people money, or giving them power, and certainly not creating another class of worker with some autonomy.

commoditize the parts of software development that have lower complexity

That's what library code, Objective C, object-oriented programming, the Java standard library, etc etc were supposed to do. To some extent, they all accomplished that goal a little.

To directly address your title, I'll finally get to see a quine in the nroff macro language, something which I believe does not currently exist, so LLMs can't dredge one up to entertain us. Or perhaps a proof of why such a quine isn't possible. Either way is fine.

If there are no facts, everything becomes a matter of opinion. If it's opinions, then the bosses' is better than yours. Getting rid of facts is important to bullies.

That's like saying that open bottles lead to alcoholism.

It's a shame that the loss of credibility that Bezos himself caused by meddling in the presidential endorsement openly and directly, then scolding readers for objecting, caused what was a good paper to go down the drain.

You left out paying ransom, buying illegal guns and drugs, evading taxes, evading sanctions, settling inter-cartel debts, and bribing certain important world leaders

The USD still rules (by several magnitudes) for the use cases you mention.

"Urged" means ICE is already beyond accountability to anyone other than Trump, they're secret police. Trouble ahead!

Good that even NYT names Trump specifically and not "US" or "Dept of Energy" or some responsibility avoiding acronym.
