For Gentoo, it was/is? part of the standard installation to configure and build a custom kernel.

I remember the first gentoo. On the framebuffer it had a beautiful blue/gray background with the logo and provided you with choices. You could build everything from scratch or install a bootstrapped version. I tried both, failed and gave up (my poor AMD k5 couldn't handle the heat). But the point here is: it was always easy to build a kernel within your debian installation from deb-src. You could even build it as a deb, install it and reboot into it. If my job was to manage a linux kernel, I'd have a script which took the latest sources, set kernel parameters, packaged it as deb-src and then it is just two steps to build and reboot. Then I could switch between them easily.

To me, they all look like they just increased their monitor size ;-)

Or do you expect IRC users to switch to Discord?

Same here. I also have an ente account, but only to check if they made relevant progress. So far, I don't understand why Ente has so much traction when PhotoPrism has the better feature set, in my opinion.

Actually, with a good architecture, SQLite brings you very far. However, you need a solid architecture; otherwise, the journey ends very soon. So people with architectural wisdom can build great things with SQLite.

The ones who warn about it are often the ones who don't care about architecture and just plug stuff together.

I think the 'Agentic coding SWE-Bench Verified' [1] was actually the one benchmark where Google didn't even claim to beat Sonnet 4.5 ;-)

I was about to buy a Steam Frame, now I have to wait for the version with the smell feature ;-)

No need to wait. It has an expansion port right over the nose for smell-o-vision.

I don't think so.

Yes, it is being used for such purposes, but the older reason for tracking users was the hunger of the ad networks to serve ads with higher impact, and I think 'personalization' is still the big driver here.

Since 3 days I am trying to get a login to Antigravity and first there was trouble with an api now all I get is 'Your current account is not eligible for Antigravity. Try signing in with another personal Google account'. Even though it is verified and in a supported region...

Pretty cool already!

I use 'Sonnet 4.5 thinking' and 'Composer 1' (Cursor) the most, so it would be interesting to see how such SOTA models perform in this task.

I think it could be improved by ADDING A FEATURE with multiple texts for the same mechanic.

Less repetitive == MORE AWESOME

And of course, harder to learn/understand.
