Really wonderful experience. I don't comment here much but this is really great. Bravo.

thanks, that's kind of what I was thinking in terms of life being generally harder. We spent about 3 weeks there a few years ago traveling from Seward, Talkeetna, Yukon, and Haines. The tech sector definitely seems to be located in the cities which may be unfortunate for me, but we'll see how it plays out. The forces of life are pulling me that way so I won't resist it.

When I was in high school about 25 years ago we took a trip to Anchorage. I would love to go back and I think it is incredible up there, can definitely respect the pulling and not being able to resist. I think the hardest part isn't the job, but overcoming the difference in living conditions. You can always find something remote and make it work, it's just a question of being comfortable. The other thing you may want to check though is the internet connectivity in some of the smaller cities. May find a use for some of those old AOL dialup CDs :)

Good luck.

thanks, that's kind of what I was thinking, I'm going to follow this gut instinct

:( oh man, my first support request. I'll look into it this weekend. Thanks for the heads up

Hi HN. Here's my first first Angular/Express/Node app, it's just a site that you can punch in a shortened link to (like bit.ly) and get the results of where it will take you. Handy to avoid being rickrolled amongst other things. I just started really learning javascript and angular about 4 weeks ago (although I've been a developer for much longer) so I'm pretty happy to have a fully deployed site that seems to actually work, albeit very simple. Loving angular, javascript, yeoman, grunt, and openshift. Can't wait to do some more fun things.

I can't even put into words how much this post sucks, I've been trying for 15 minutes and getting enraged instead. So instead I'll just say your privilege is disgusting, not only on a human/personal level but at a technical level as well. I hope you step on a lego.
