Same! My first thoughts: "Is this language pronounced Lang or Slang? Slang is actually a cool name for a new programming language..."

The trick with using characters which by definition are not allowed inside variable names, "<" and ">", should be sufficient no?

Only real programmers know how to do that.

I had way better results. I'd assume the same would have happened to the author if he provided the LLM with a full documentation on what ATARI BASIC is and some example programs.

Especially when asking the LLM to create a drawing program and a game the author would have probably received working code if he supplied the ai with documentation to the graphics function and sprite rendering using ATARI BASIC.

I‘ve grown up in Wuppertal if you‘ve got and questions i‘d be happy to answer.

I would love to visit in the Wuppertal's new club: Open Ground. Mark Ernestus is a legend, and they have an exceptional sound system in there.

Huh, I didn’t even notice a new Club has opened.

There’s a free entry event on Thursday I’ll go and check out Open Ground.

Yep. Resident Advisor just wrote a long article about it

"She was the first African-American woman federal judge nominated by President Donald Trump", judges being appointed by politicians is a complete joke.

Is there any country where judges aren’t appointed by politicians? Who else would they be appointed by?

Some judges are elected instead.

The person who ultimately made the decision is liable.

design hardware for vim xD

Consumption taxes hit low income people the hardest and also reduce consumption.

What you are suggesting is the biggest redestribution of wealth in US history, putting a lot more money into the super riches pockets.

It might also severly damage the US economy.

That's why the plan includes sending a check / refund to every person, to offset the "tax free income amount", IIRC.

Also - rich people don't really pay income and capital taxes because they have ways to avoid them altogether. (All these "charity funds" they make are just tax avoidance schemes).

Sales tax instead of income tax would be a huge time saver, and effectively work exactly like an income tax, without all the waste.

"Taxing the rich" could be achieved via other means if desired. Some wealth tax (let's say over 100M of net worth, .5%/year or something like that).

Considering Europe has a VAT of over 20% (27% in Hungary, 25% in Sweden), I'm thinking the consequences are more manageable than you think.

Hungary has a VAT of 27% and a flat income tax of 15%. VAT doesn't replace income tax, it complements it. Then there are vehicle taxes, property taxes, and so on.

Sure, but is there a reasonable why you couldn't replace a flat 15% income tax with a higher VAT (consumption) tax?

I don't see why not.

Yeah we cannot damage our sacred economy

Why would we change it to make the rich richer and the poor poorer?

?? Are you suggesting we should damage the economy? Or that we should be cavalier about risking it?

Uh huh

And income taxes hit high income people the hardest. It's not fair that I have to pay 6 figures of taxes when other people get away with paying multitudes less than me.

And the rest of us think it is more than fair. I also pay a shitload of taxes. But I'd rather it come from me than from my sister, who makes 10% of what I make.

It's an unpleasant reality but those 6 figures in taxes are all that stands between you and a hungry mob ripping your throat out.

You could choose to have less money and pay less taxes.

It doesn’t go the other way.

Sorry for passing Ursula von der Leyen to the EU, this feels like a deja vu.

Reminder that she was planted there at the last minute by the EC with no agreement in parlament. The natural candidate should have been Frans Timmermans.

She won by margin of 383 votes to 327. 9 votes above minimum.

Anyone outside mainstream media can see she is more concerned about her self-preserving PR than achieving anything of substance, for a women touted as an example of female leadership she is but a shadow of a Merkel.

She was planted by the European Council (Orban in particular). The natural candidate would have been Manfred Weber since his faction won the EP election.
