This. Especially in a field where, if the questions are to be taken at face value then the results can be incredibly socially important.

I read this and went to craigslist just to see if it was as cheap as they said. in chicago, there dozens of treadmills posted in the last 3 days and easily ten or so at or less than $100.

I've wanted to do this for so long, good luck, on the app and the interview

Thank you! The interview went well, just waiting on them to check my references and do a background check.

Patches welcome ;) The frontend to it may get open-sourced when I'm done with it, I'm not quite sure how I'm going to proceed with it yet.

Introduction to Automata Theory, Languages and Computation; Hopcroft Ullmann (the cinderella book), Object Oriented Python; Goldwasser Letscher, An Introduction to Database Systems; Date, C Programming A Modern Approach; K.N King, Mastering Algorithms with C Loudon, Computer Logic Designs and Applications; Hsu. Live in Chicago, happy to help.

Mastering Algorithms sounds great. I live in Tucson, AZ but could paypal you shipping. Is there a particular type of book you would want to trade for? My library is small but has a few gems.

Paypal would be fine, and no need to feel obligated to trade, I'm just trying to lessen the load on my shelves, especially if someone will make use of it. Hit me up danieltpeters at the mail of the great g ;)

I already have my own copy, but the Date - Introduction to Database Systems book is quite good. I hope somebody trades you something worthwhile. :)

I have quite a bit of Python and Django if you'd like

The last line here is not hyperbole. It changes you, plain and simple, to read this mans experiences and their translation into a form of therapy.

Who is this "average computer user"? Anybody that makes the jump to Linux has a reason to(and there many, not just tinkerers), otherwise they stick with a windows machine or pony up for a mac.

I can't believe this getting upvoted. I wonder how much software you use every single day thats created and maintained by "self-important teenagers and manchildren".

I actually played Hunt the Wumpus on my dads Kaypro2 when I was a kid. Grand Theft Wumpus might be the funniest thing I read this week. With Lisp + Graphs? Solid. I wonder if more of No Starch's offerings are this cool.

I'm worried that this is going to be one of those group think exercises where people are simply going to key off of their opinions without even looking at the code. Or, worse, reiterate their claims on other forums. I don't think, at least in Patio11's case, that this is gross self-promotion, I think its simply arrogance.
