Yea when I think of DRAM I think of SK Hynix and Micron with Samsung far behind.

I think the number is probably much higher than we think - there is probably a ton of not so obvious spending on research and development.

Just like some of the crypto booms and busts if you time it right this could be a good thing. Buy on a refresh cycle when AWS dumps a bunch of chips and RAM used or refurbished (some places even offer warranty which is nice).

And if the market crashes or takes a big dip then temporarily eBay will flood with high end stuff at good prices.

Sucks for anyone who needs to upgrade in the next year or two though !

Kagi small web is great for discovering stuff like this. I also follow a few things on Substack but overall that site seems a bit all over the place

What social conformity is forced by schools these days ? Only one I can really remember was we had specific uniforms for PE (basically just gym shorts and a tshirt)

not the school administration, other students.

So, good training for exactly the same pressures they'll face as adults?

I’m not against public schools, but pretending the social pressures are anywhere near similar is wrong.

Kids are assholes in a way that would get most adults fired or imprisoned.

There are social pressures to conform, but you don’t get called names for wearing off brand shoes the way kids were when I was in grade school.

They are the same pressures. They occur in the same proportions.

Children are just really bad at it so it is extremely obvious. The rituals do not disappear when you turn 18. They do not disappear when you turn 98.

> They are the same pressures. They occur in the same proportions.

That's one hell of a claim to make:

Have you really had work environments where half your co-workers refused to talk to you? For months, if not years?

Have you ever been shoved down to the ground and punched repeatedly?

Have you ever had a co-worker chase you with a knife?

Have you ever had a co-worker set off a bomb to get out of work early?

Have you ever had a co-worker steal your wallet?

I can safely say I saw all of these going to public school, and have never encountered any of that behavior in the office.

Probably AI generated.

Every actual human with lived experience in society knows, that real life is much more diverse than school. In school, there’s at best a few cliques and mostly a single social hierarchy. After school, even during student years, but even more so when entering the workforce, there’s incredible variety of social hierarchies to climb, skills to learn and excel within, and career paths to take.

Zero comparison to school.

Children are really good at this. Adults stop trying for various reasons.

If “the rituals” are so subtle that I don’t notice them then it’s not the same pressure then is it?

well today’s parents do just about everything except prepare their children for adulthood

Maybe you need larger controllers ?

Also possible the touchpads are better for fatigue than joysticks

If they did an AMD CPU using the same TSMC node that Apple uses for Arm CPUs it wouldn't be that much less power efficient and have much great compatibility.

They would realistically gain the most efficiency by getting Nvidia to design a modern super power efficient GPU like what was used in the original switch and Nvidia Shield. AMD GPUs can be great for desktop gaming but in terms of power efficiency to performance ratio Nvidia is way ahead

An AMD CPU and Nvidia GPU might be a hard thing to actually negotiate however given that AMD is big in the GPU space as well. As far as I know most "APU" aren't really that special and just a combo of GPU and CPU

APUs have the GPU and CPU on the same package, or sometimes even the same die (with tiling). If there was to be an Nvidia GPU and AMD CPU type system, they would have to be separate packages.

Software can always ship a new update for bugs or features.

Hardware not so much

The switch to USB-C was the whole reason I went to iOS personally. Lack of a proper headphone jack does suck (the Apple USB-C to 3.5mm is quite good however). Too bad we can't have both

Subaru ? Been thinking about doing the same. Was it easy to install ?
