This works until eARC breaks and you have to update (LG C6, never connected to the internet, only using AppleTV). And then of course the next LG update will break eARC again.
As a US Expat who just purchased a home in Amsterdam it's a hell of a lot better than paying $1.5 mil for a shack in Sunnyvale. We bought the apartment we were living in from our landlord (funny enough because they're going to start charging him extra tax for N+2 rental properties). It's worth it.
For one, they ruled that the wealth tax is against the EU human rights agenda. So they're scrambling to come up with a solution. Even with this tax, the projected weight isn't terrible. For reference my wife and I are CoastFIRE here with ~2mil USD in NW and the tax is marginal compared to our returns.
Not to disappoint you, but a career in the games industry will be vastly more difficult than a typical SWE role. You'll be expected to crunch for a game's launch with no guarantee that you won't be laid off after. There's a steep pay decrease for roles with the same YoE.
Skills wise, I would recommend spending a few years learning C++ at the least, try developing an engine from scratch, build an ECS, build some basic multiplayer implementations. I wouldn't expect much of your web experience to transfer, and you would most likely be joining the industry as junior.
Stability wise, if you have any backend experience, applying for infrastructure SWE roles that handle online services for video games is an alright bet, but that job market is quite small.
I live and work right near Blizzard, and so I know lots of engineers in the game industry.
Blizzard pays a lot better than a lot of random webdev shops. It's not FAANG money unless you're a superstar and then the comp is more in the form of one off retention grants.
The hours don't seem bad most of the time. Crunch comes but it's not frequent. YMMV.
Or a 2000 euro Hermes Apple Watch with bracelet, but it comes with special wallpaper you don’t get if you just buy the strap or 1000 euro bracelet separately
The strap and bracelet are both really nice though, do recommend if you aren’t very price sensitive.
This is like complaining about the $400 Hermès band. The "iPhone Pocket" is obviously a luxury item from a high end designer, of course it's going to be expensive.
With this you don’t even get the designer in the name.
Plus, I can see spending money for things that are nicer or specially designed. There is a huge quality difference between a Loungefly bag made out of synthetic material and a Coach bag of leather (or even Louis Vuitton, although that is a big step up in price). But this iPhone bag isn’t that- 3D knitting isn’t even that special, you could just as easily put a cheap Android phone in this bag, and I don’t think it’s going to be any more durable than a moderately priced crossbody or small purse.
